Malagassi opens doors to its second school in Nosy Be

Education and opportunity has always been at the heart of Malagassi’s mission. After the success of our first school in Loaharano, which quickly grew from serving 50 to nearly 120 students every day, we knew our journey was just beginning.

We are thrilled to share that Malagassi’s second school has opened its doors on the island of Nosy Be, welcoming 300 students aged 12 to 18. This is a major step forward in our commitment to support local communities, expand access to education, and invest in the future of Madagascar.

A New Chapter in Education

The school is already receiving its students, who are full of energy and curiosity. From day one, the classrooms have been buzzing with excitement. Our team worked closely with local teachers to create a space that encourages curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

The school is more than a place to learn, it’s a hub for cultural exchange, personal development, and community engagement. Students will have programs that include practical skills, environmental awareness, and exposure to global ideas reflecting Malagassi’s values of sustainability and social responsibility.

Building on Our First Success

The Loaharano school gave us valuable lessons about engaging communities and scaling education. Originally meant for 50 kids, it quickly became a center for learning in the region, now supporting almost 120 students daily.

Nosy Be was the natural next step. It’s a vibrant community and also where Malagassi grows ylang ylang and other essential oils. By combining education with our local presence, we can create a real connection between economic activity, environment, and community.

Looking Forward to the Official Inauguration

Although the school has opened to students, we are preparing for the official inauguration in November, which will be attended by Malagassi officials, government representatives, and community leaders. This will celebrate the hard work of everyone involved, the dedication of teachers, and the excitement of students starting this new journey.

In the meantime, the school is fully operational. It’s really inspiring to see the students settling in, engaging with teachers, and starting to learn.

Why This Matters

At Malagassi, we believe education is the foundation for empowerment, innovation, and community growth. By providing quality education in Nosy Be, we hope to:

  • Equip young people with the knowledge and skills to succeed.
  • Support social and economic development in the community.
  • Inspire a new generation of leaders committed to sustainability and culture.

This school is more than just a building, it represents our mission to invest in people and communities, so our impact goes far beyond classrooms.

A Note of Gratitude

I want to personally thank everyone who made this possible: our team on the ground, the teachers, families, and partners who share our vision. The students’ excitement reminds us why this work matters so much.

We’ll share more updates on the official inauguration in November, including photos, stories, and reflections from this special milestone.
